App Variants

Gitfox is available in different app variants. The main Git workflows are shared, but a few features depend on the app variant because of distribution and sandboxing rules.

Direct download

The direct-download version supports:

• Commit signing
• External diff and merge tools
• The Integration settings pane, including the command line tool installer

Setapp

The Setapp version supports commit signing, external diff and merge tools, and the Integration settings pane, including the command line tool installer. Licensing and updates are handled through Setapp.

Mac App Store

The Mac App Store version is sandboxed. It does not support:

• External diff or merge tools
• Commit signing
• The Integration settings pane
• Custom hook execution

Mac App Store subscriptions are managed through Apple. Open Gitfox → License... and use Manage Subscription when it is shown.
